Leaves. Foliage appearing on coins or medals, either singly, in ornamentation, or more commonly, in wreaths or garlands. A wide variety of leaves have appeared as ornamentation and in wreaths, the most common are ivy, laurel, oak, acorn, palm, wheat and acanthus, each with their own symbolism.
