Mixed Media
Mixed Media. A work of medallic art in which more than two mediums are used, often in combination with metal. First appeared in 1991 at the F.I.D.E.M. Conference, Eugene L. Daub of America exhibited a mixed media medal in which metal was combined with plastic and wood. Metal, because of its universal composition for medallic items is typically combined with one or more other media. Some Winter Olympic Medals were made of metal and crystal. Since this is the newest innovation for medallic art, it has not yet developed into the full spectrum that will undoubtedly to so in the future.
