Normalize, Normalizing
Normalize, Normalizing. A softening and improvement of the grain structure of metal by heat treating. Normalizing steel is performed before it is made into a die, for example. The metal is heated above a critical point then allowed to cool in still air until it reaches room temperature. This allows for the grain structure to recrystalize normally that eliminates stress and coarse grain structure. See heat treating.
