Private Copy
Private Copy. A copy of a medallic item for the study or use by a private person. Private copies are not made to be sold, but are often homemade casts in plaster or other easily molded material to study the relief or design. Museums sometimes furnish such private copies or study copies when photographs are not suitable and sending the original is impractical. See copies and replicas.
