Renamed

Renamed.  A medallic item with a previous name removed and engraved with a second name. British decorations particularly, awarded to one person, have been obtained by a second person, entitled to that medal, who has had the first name removed (obliterated name) and his name engraved in its place.  See mamed, obliterate.
