Replication
Replication. Creating a new coin or medal using a major portion of a previous design, creating a replica. While replication is a term used for a lot of the copies and replicas made of coins and medals, their authority, legality, type of manufacture, intent of the maker all bear importance of the copied item. There are five terms that can be used to call a copy when it is replicated: reissue, restrike, replica, reproduction, revision. These all have technical differences in the numismatic field. See copies and replicas for a chart and specific meanings, each of these terms also have separate entries.
