Sink

Sink.  To prepare a die from a hub, as a final step of hubbing. A peculiarity of the English language exists for this term: "raise" and "sink" in the connotation of hubbing both mean the same!  This sink is intended and desirable. If a die sinks (after long use and wear) it is deteriorating; this is unintended and undesirable.  See sunken die.
