Strike

Strike.  Making a numismatic or medallic item by impressing an appropriate blank with a pair of dies – with one blow and one revolution of the press – the result is the transfer of the relief design to the blank. The strike must have enough pressure to impart the design in one blow for coins, in as few blows as possible for medals.  See strike up, struck up.
