A copper or billon coin struck in Spain before 1597 and Felipe IV 1636-1654. The piece was equal to 8 maraved´┐Żs. 2. Slang in Spain for a small coin or small change used during the 1800s and 1900s, particularly for the copper coinage of Isabel II and Alonso XII and Alfonso XIII. Literally: Pot metal.
