The 1/4 real coin first struck by Fernando & Isabel. Varieties have been used in Spain, Spanish America and the Philippines. Also called the cuarto, quarrtillo or cuartillo. 2. In 1802 private firms at Gibraltar issued tokens of 1 and 2 quartos of 1/2 penny and penny.
