Early Paper Money of America / Rhode Island / 1743/44 February 14, redated 1746

£11,250 in New Tenor Bills of Credit issued pursuant to the June 2, 1746 Act for Cape Breton expedition purposes. Printed from the same face plates as previous issues but with modifications. The date "1746" was cut into the signature area of each denomination without disturbing other dates. The initials T.I. of the engraver, Thomas Johnston, were cut below the anchor on the 6d bill. £11,000 from the large denomination plate and £250 from the small denomination plate were printed. Same silver equivalent appears as on the Dec. 2, 1740 issue. The same signers appear as on the Feb. 14, 1743/44 issue plus Jonathan Nichols.
