£50,000 in circulating Promissory notes bearing 10% interest were issued by a private bank formed by 17 merchants and about 7 planters without authority and using £10,000 in Bills of Credit of the Colony as paid in capital. The Notes contained a vignette of a “drowning Man imploring Assistance.” Denominations are unknown.
