Early Paper Money of America / New York / 1709 November 1 Silver Valued Issue

£4,000 (14,545 “Lyon Dollars” or 10,000 ounces of Silver Plate) in indented Bills of Credit approved on Nov. 12, 1709 and receivable for taxes with 2½% interest. Interest was subsequently revoked. One “Lyon Dollar” equaled 5s6d New York money of account or 13 pennyweights, 18 grains of Silver Plate. Lyon Dollars are mentioned twice in text. Printed by William Bradford, with the same signers as the Nov. 1, 1709 Shilling Issue.
