Early Paper Money of America / North Carolina / 1780, April 17 1780 Session Act

£29,876 5s ($74,700) being the balance of the total of the Aug. 8, 1778 issue which was not printed because of the smallpox epidemic, was reauthorized at the April 17, 1780 Session for $50 denominations only. These are identical in style to the 1778 issue with mottoes from lower denominations of that issue, but with the date on the back changed to 1780. The Aug. 8, 1778 Act remains in the text on the face. Same signers appear as the 1778 issue. By another Act passed at the April 17, 1780 Session three inspectors were to be appointed in each county to examine bills and to write COUNTERFEIT in large letters on such counterfeit bills as they found.
