||Engraved enamel overlay pictorial on S-mint $10 gold piece. Ex. Daniel T. Cole, a prominent figures in California politics. A native of Montpelier, Vt., being born in 1832, Cole went to California in 1852. He was one of the settlers of Sierra county and for many years operated a stage line between Nevada City and Downieville and owned the famous Mountain house in Sierra county. Upon the election of President McKinley, "Dan" Cole, as he was more generally known, was appointed Coiner at the United States Mint in San Francisco, which office he held until July 8, 1907. Acquired by the Eclectic Numismatic Treasure collection from John Kraljevich.
