| Description | 1831 First Restrike Proof Breen 1-B R6-. PCGS graded Proof 65 Brown. CAC. Reverse of 1836. Light golden brown with traces of faded mint red on the obverse and underlying iridescent rose on the reverse, plus hints of blue steel in protected areas, especially on the obverse. The fields are nicely reflective with deep mirrors on both sides. The only defects are a small carbon spot left of star 8, another over star 10, and one left of star 12. The reverse is essentially flawless. M-LDS, Breen state III early. The reverse has the additional die crack from the L in HALF to the second A in AMERICA, but the final crack down through the C in CENT has not formed. Listed in the Breen census on page 347 of his reference. Listed by Richard T. Coleman, Jr., as one of only three known examples of his state V with the second crack reaching the border at the second A in AMERICA. Our grade is Proof-63. Weight 76.8 grains, Breen's series III.
