Description | 1843 First Restrike Proof Breen 1-B R6+. PCGS graded Proof 64 Brown. Reverse of 1856. Light bluish steel brown with iridescent rose tones in protected areas. There are many tiny spots in the field at stars 1-4, and myriad tiny struck-through marks from rag lint in the field at stars 1-2 and 11-12, as struck, of course. The fields are highly reflective with moderate to deep mirrors on both sides. Weight 82.4 grains, which places this piece in Breen's series I, the sharp early state for these proofs.
