Description | 1937 50C Antietam MS65 NGC. CAC. Generals George B. McClellan and Robert E. Lee are featured on the obverse of the 1937 Antietam commemorative half dollar. The battle took place on September 17, 1862 at Sharpsburg, Maryland and claimed 23,000 casualties. Silver-gray surfaces exhibit sharp detail with a touch of softness on part of the lettering.
