Description | 1951-S 50C Washington-Carver MS66 NGC. Washington-Carver half dollars enjoyed an extensive production run from 1951 to 1954. Vast quantities were struck across all three branches of the Mint, including more than 1.1 million pieces manufactured in Philadelphia in 1952. The 1951-S claims the lowest mintage in the set (8,000 pieces plus three for assay). Typically struck devices remain brilliant near the centers, while daubs of russet color appear intermittently around the periphery. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
