Second onlly to the Capitol itself in architectural importance is the Treasury Building, an inspiring structure of sandstone and granite having a total length of 450 ft and a width of 250 ft. The [?] front in 15 [?] is adorned with a columnade of thirty-eight stately ionic columns, after [?] the Temple of Minerva of at Athens. There is reason to regret that the architect Robert Mille did not have his way in the design of resting the building amid grande commensurate with it no dignity and beauty, [?] of in the thorough fare but the story [?] that President Jackson became impatient at the long delayed hovering of a kite, and finally struck his [?] into the ground [?] morning and ordered, "Build it here" and here it is to-day.
