Description

1866 1C One Cent, Judd-455, Pollock-529, R.8, PR63 Brown NGC. Design. 4.7 grams. The regular Indian cent design, struck on a thick planchet. Struck in pure copper with a plain edge. Commentary. This pure copper dies trial is thicker than usual, more akin to a copper-nickel cent from 1860-1864. Only two or three are believed to exist according to USPatterns.com. Physical Description. The obverse of this sharply defined Select proof is medium brown with lovely iridescent toning, and the reverse is deeper brown with traces of pale orange mint color. Provenance. "Colonel" E.H.R.
