1860 3CS MS66 NGC. CAC. Remarkably few high-grade 1860 three cent silver pieces remain from the mintage of 286,000 coins. NGC has only certified two other MS66 examples with three finer (10/13). The surfaces on this piece are toned in deep shades of gray-blue with faint underlying rose tints. Beneath the multiple layers of patina is strong, vibrant mint luster. Each side is essentially devoid of abrasions, and the only strike softness is seen on the leaves above the Roman numeral. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
