1832 H10C MS65 NGC. V-12, LM-4, R.4. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. The two examples of LM-3 in the Eric P. Newman Collection, along with this example of LM-4, share an obverse die that has cracks from the top of the cap to the rim. The authors of Federal Half Dimes 1792-1837, John W. McCloskey and the late Russell J. Logan, observed that LM-3 was the first use of the obverse, and LM-4 was the second use. However, we recommend that the Capped Bust half dime specialists study these three pieces that might represent a remarriage of the LM-3 die pair. A lovely Gem, this example has vivid blue toning over gray-gold surfaces with satin luster and trivial marks. Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P. Newman @ $1.75; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
