1853 10C Arrows MS66 NGC. CAC. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. After the weight of subsidiary coinage was reduced in 1853, arrowheads were placed on each side of the date to denote the weight change. The Arrows type covers two years and only five issues, of which the 1853 is the most available. This sharply struck example, with rich blue and gray patina covering each side, displays strong underlying mint luster. A spot at the top of the shield can be used as an identifier. Census: 41 in 66 (1 in 66+, 1 in 66 S), 16 finer (10/13). Ex: "Colonel " E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P.
