Description 1822 25C MS64 S NGC. B-1, R.2. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. Only two die marriages are known for 1822 quarters, and they produced a total of 64,080 pieces. The Normal Reverse B-1 is the usual variety encountered, while the Blundered Reverse B-2 is rare. Business strikes and proofs were minted from these dies, and the Eric P. Newman specimen is the finest known business strike. All known 1822 B-1 quarters were struck from perfect dies. This near-Gem specimen displays silver-gray mint brilliance at the center of the obverse, with a kaleidoscope of spectacular toning about the periphery. The reverse is light to medium silver-gray with delicate peripheral toning. Census: 5 in 64 (1 in 64 S), 0 finer (10/13). Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P. Newman @ $25.00; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Realized $25,850.00 .
