1836 25C MS62 NGC. B-2, R.2. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. The lengthy and spindly obverse die cracks are characteristic of the Browning-2 marriage. The variety is plentiful in VF and XF, but attractive Mint State examples are rare. The present satiny specimen has delightful ruby-red, sky-blue, and autumn-gold toning. Consequential contact is confined to a slender field line east of the shield. The Eric P. Newman specimen is tied for the third finest known business strike. Census: 7 in 62 (1 in 62 S), 26 finer (10/13) for all 1836 varieties. Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P. Newman; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
