Description 1919 5C MS67+ NGC. CAC. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. The 1919 Philadelphia nickel is considered a common coin in all but the highest grades (such as seen here). This exquisite piece is close to technical perfection; NGC has certified only one finer. The mint luster is thick and frosted, showing just a hint of rose and lilac patina. What is perhaps most unusual is the overall strength of strike. The hair above the Indian's braid is fully detailed, and there is just a spot of softness at the front of the bison's head. Absolutely amazing overall quality. Census: 8 in 67 (1 in 67+, 1 in 67 S), 1 finer (10/13). Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P. Newman @ $2.50; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Realized $11,750.00 . Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.
