1795 H10C MS64+ NGC. CAC. V-5, LM-8, R.3. This variety combines the first use of the obverse die with the third and final use of the reverse die. The obverse is normally found with a heavy die crack from the border through the Y to Liberty's nose and beyond. On this Choice Mint State piece, that crack is delicate and much lighter than usual. The Eric P. Newman specimen is a wonderful half dime with brilliant and frosty silver luster showing peripheral blue and gold toning on the obverse. The reverse has several thin, horizontal lines of gold toning. The strike is deficient on the reverse with little detail present on the eagle's breast and wings. Overall, a highly pleasing example for a date or type collection. Census: 35 in 64 (1 in 64+), 18 finer (10/13). Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
