1850 50C MS65 NGC. WB-101. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. Only 227,000 business-strike Seated Liberty half dollars were struck in 1850, making the date scarce-to-rare in all grades. This coin shows the Normal Date, characteristic of the WB-101 variety, which is rated High R.6 in Mint State grades. The present coin is an impressive Gem, with sharply detailed design elements throughout. Pinpoint definition is evident on Liberty's sandal and hair strands. The well-preserved surfaces are attractively toned in shades of cerulean-blue and pale gold, with vibrant mint luster under the patina. Eye appeal is extraordinary. Census: 1 in 65, 0 finer (10/13). Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P. Newman; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
