Denomination 50C
Description 1794 50C Good 4 NGC. CAC. O-104, R.5. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. The rim die break at 4 o'clock on the reverse is usual for the variety. All legends are clear except OF, which is faint but readable. A few right-side stars fade into the rim. Stored in one of Newman's brown paper envelopes (noting the Haseltine attribution) where it developed a protective patina of antique gray toning. The smooth surfaces are a delight for this much abused date and type. Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P. Newman @ $25.00; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Realized $4,993.75 . Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.
