Description 1827 50C Curl Base 2 AU58+ NGC. CAC. O-146, R.2. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. This delightful specimen features brilliant silver centers surrounded by vivid rings of golden-brown and violet toning, with vibrant mint luster on both sides. It is doubtful that this coin entered circulation. A bit of cabinet friction on the cheek is all that prevents an MS designation. A short drift mark runs through the inner portion of the eagle's left wing. Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P. Newman @ $7.50; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Realized $4,112.50 . Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.
