1830 50C Small 0 MS63+ NGC. CAC. O-113, R.2. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. The slate-gray toning is deeper on the reverse than on the obverse. Satiny and unmarked with superior eye appeal. Liberty's profile is strike doubled. The high points of this and other uncirculated Newman coins are sometimes darker than the surrounding surfaces. We agree with NGC's assessment that this is not a sign of wear but the result of direct contact with the brown paper envelopes in which the coins were stored. Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P. Newman @ $3.00; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
