1843-O 50C MS63 NGC. CAC. WB-101, Die Pair WB-12, R.3. This is an attractive Mint State 1843-O half dollar, one of 15 graded as MS63 at NGC with a mere three examples grading higher (9/13). This example has silver-gray toning with amber highlights. The obverse shows only a few minor abrasions on the coin's lower right. This variety is known for an obvious obverse die crack from the rim at 7 o'clock to the rock and another from the rim at 1 o'clock past star 9 and running into the right field. The reverse has extensive and interesting die cracks through the denomination and legend. The obverse is cracked in the field to the left of the date. A scarce and desirable die marriage for the variety specialist. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
