1869 50C PR64+ NGC. CAC. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. The proof Seated half dollars of 1869 are a curiosity among the series, showing the first six stars minutely doubled and the motto usually weak to absent on GOD. This PR64+ example of the issue shows both of those anomalies, even though most of the O and the bottom portion of the G are visible. Some parallel planchet striations appear, running through that same area of the scroll and eagle's upper break, but they are apparently coincidental. The strike elsewhere is sharp. The attractive silver-white surfaces show light daubs of amber rim toning. Census: 51 in 64 (1 in 64+), 32 finer (9/13). Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P. Newman @ $10.00; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
