1921-S 50C AU53 NGC. CAC. From a small mintage of 548,000 pieces, the 1921-S Walking Liberty half dollar is the most difficult issue of the series to locate in Mint State condition. It seems that contemporary collectors overlooked the 1921-S at the time of issue, and few high-quality examples were saved. The present coin is a lightly circulated specimen, with just a trace of wear on the high points of the design elements. The usual problem areas (Liberty's head and wreath hand, and the eagle's leg) show the typical softness, but other areas are strongly impressed. The surfaces are lightly abraded for the grade and display a pleasing patina of pink and champagne-gold hues. This coin would be a welcome addition to a fine collection of Walking Liberty half dollars. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
