1933-S 50C MS67 NGC. Many collectors divide the Walking Liberty half dollar series into early, middle, and late series, originally because manufacturers of coin albums found it expedient to do so. Conveniently, this division also roughly corresponds to the rarity of the various issues in high grade, with the early series most difficult to locate, the middle series less challenging, and the late series relatively easy. The 1933-S is the last issue usually included in the early series, and examples are conditionally rare at the MS66 level and very rare in MS67. The present coin is a spectacular Superb Gem, with unusually vibrant mint luster and sharply detailed design elements. The well-preserved surfaces are enhanced by shades of pink, green, and amber toning with no visible blemishes. Census: 4 in 67, 0 finer (9/13). Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
