1896-O $1 MS61 NGC. The 1896-O Morgan dollar claims a generous mintage of 4.9 million pieces, but quality control at the New Orleans Mint was not a priority. The present MS61 offering is an exception as its design elements are much better impressed than ordinarily seen. Also, the luster is brighter than the usually encountered dull sheen on most survivors. A few obverse marks are not serious. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
