||1934-S $1 MS65+ NGC. CAC. The San Francisco Mint was ordered to strike silver dollars late in the year in 1934, resulting in a modest mintage of just over 1 million pieces, all delivered after the first of November. Few examples were saved by contemporary collectors and the 1934-S is an elusive key issue, especially in high grade. This high-end Gem is well-detailed, with vibrant mint luster on both sides. The well-preserved surfaces are enhanced by shades of ice-blue, lavender, and golden-brown toning. Census: 75 in 65 (3 in 65+), 13 finer (9/13). Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
