Although the mintage of dimes at Philadelphia in 1871 consisted of 906,750 examples, nearly double that of the previous year, there are few survivors at the upper grade levels. A tan-gray patina blankets both sides of this choice AU example, with hints of gold and green emerging. Minor incompleteness of strike is noted, along with a few hair thin marks on the obverse.
