Description 1907 $2 1/2 MS67 NGC. Always known as a workhorse of American commerce, the Liberty Head quarter eagle had an unbroken run of mintages from 1840 through 1907. The series concluded with a large production of 336,294 pieces in 1907 -- the highest of the late-date series -- among which this Superb Gem example is one of the finest. It displays the expected light-yellow patina known for the date, with nice mint luster and smooth, semi-reflective fields. The strike is bold and complete on the star centers and Liberty's hair coils. The eagle is especially full-feathered with complete leg and talon detail. Likewise, the arrow feathers are bold. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Realized $2820.00. Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions.
