||Moore's Mills, AR - E.M. Moore & Bros. $1 in "Confedeeate Notes" June 16, 1862 Rothert 500-1. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent. Arkansas Civil War scrip is a diverse and interesting field of study with countless issuers, styles, paper types, and nuances. The Arkansas portion of the Newman Obsolete currency collection contains numerous rarities of tremendous interest, evidence of Eric P. Newman's enthusiasm for the series. Though Moore & Bros. is not one of the very rare issuers, this green paper type is notable for the misspelled obligation "In Confedeeate Notes" straight across the bottom center; most likely, the error was caused by haste. At the left end, a locomotive is in perpendicular orientation. At the right end, standing Freedom as seen on Obsolete notes and the $5 United States Demand Notes. There are some minor flaws, as often the case with Civil War scrip. Noted are "Tape Repaired Splits and Tears". Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
