Hartford, CT - Hartford Bank $5 July 1, 1862 CT-165 G216c. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent. A later series issued note from this historic bank founded in 1792. Fully issued, signed, and dated. This full red tinted note was engraved by Danforth, Wright & Co. At the top center is wide and ornately engraved vignette of the American School for the Deaf building and grounds in Hartford. Complementing the intricate building vignette is a portrait of founder Thomas H. Gallaudet. There are three proofs known to us of the type and at least one other issued note. The color is bold; the Apparent designation is due to the bottom having a piece missing at the right. Overall, this is a distinctive and interesting issue. Ex: Eric P.
