Middletown, CT - Central Bank $4 June 1, 1860 CT-225 UNL. PCGS Fine 12. This interesting denomination is not often seen from Connecticut. Genuine notes from the bank are exceedingly rare, with the majority redeemed by the successor National Bank that continued with an Original Series title. The central vignette of seated Navigation engraved by Toppan, Carpenter, Casiliear & Co. is flanked by large red protector "4" devices. Identical ends, vertical FOUR with "4" counters in each corner, create a note with an interesting symmetrical layout. Fully issued, problem-free and the greatest rarity make this an impressive Connecticut Obsolete note. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
