Description Alexandria, DC - Franklin Bank of Alexandria $10 March 27, 1817 DC-15 G8 Jones & Littlefield BA15-20. PCGS Very Fine 25. A rarer title from Alexandria, and a superb quality issued note. This lovely example is plated in the Jones & Littlefield Virginia standard reference. On this Wm. Harrison imprint note, the top center vignette shows seated Plenty, with "Chartered by Congress" above. Intricate denomination panels show different counter styles. When the comprehensive Julian Leidman District collection was auctioned in 1985, that cataloger considered a dozen or so notes known from the bank. Not many more have surfaced in the 30 years since, and this is certainly among the finest. As the Virginia book plate note, its status is enhanced. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Realized $2,232.50. Newman VI (Heritage Auctions, 4/2015), lot 19031. Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions.
