||Annapolis, MD - Farmers Bank of Maryland $50 18__ MD-5 G74. Shank 2.3.40P Proof. PCGS Choice New 63 Apparent. A second denomination from this demand note series from the home office in Annapolis engraved and printed by Draper & Co., mounted on cardstock as made. At the center is an American rural scene engraved with wonderful realism. Two farm hands, one napping, are resting in front of a haystack heaped high. The standing woman holds a rake and a pitcher, and she seems to beckon the men to get back to the job at hand. The Draper family imprint proofs are less frequently seen, often showing distinctive side panel vignettes like those used on this note. At the left is a woman's portrait and at the right is a sailing ship. Noted are "Minor Stains," with one noticed at the upper right and Hole Punch Cancelled as made. A charming farm scene.
