Description Lee, MA - Lee Bank $2 18__ MA-725 G12a Proof. PCGS Choice About New 55 Apparent. This Lee Bank India paper proof is vividly printed with full deep red color tint and exquisite style by Danforth, Wright & Co. The central vignette, under the arced title, has three females representing the Arts, sculpting a marble bust of Washington in the style of the iconic Houdon. At the lower left is a female portrait. The color tinting scheme consists of various shades of light to deep red with a lighter pattern in the center and deeper red at the right end panel where a large numeral "2" serves as a protector. This is a rare bank and type. Like most proofs, this is Hole Punch Cancelled as made and noted with "Small Edge Tear at Top Left." This is a very bold, rare and lovely full color proof. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Realized $2,585.00. Newman VI (Heritage Auctions, 4/2015), lot 19125. Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions.
