Description Minneapolis, MN - Minneapolis Bank $10 March 1, 1864 MN-80 G8 UNL Hewitt B340-D10a. Face Proof. PCGS New 62. A fourth Minneapolis Bank selection and the only period engraved and printed $10 proof listed on the census. Beautifully engraved by the American Bank Note Co., New-York and India paper proof mounted on original cardstock, but without a protector. At the left, under the title, the reclining river goddess is spilling water. At the lower right is a farmer and field hand. The issued note of this type used a green protector and a green back. That issued $10 type is SENC and is unlisted, unknown to the collecting community. This has a very thoughtful layout and is not that distant from Choice. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Realized $6,462.50. Newman VI (Heritage Auctions, 4/2015), lot 19158. Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions.
