The Union Bank is another early bank, opening in 1811 and eventually converting to the Union National Bank in 1865. They issued several series of notes over the decades from multiple printers. This example is from an unlisted Post Note series engraved and printed by A.B. & C. Durand, Wright & Co. Printed on bright white India paper, it is mounted upon its original cardstock. At top center is a seated allegorical female holding a large key; out in the ocean behind, Neptune is seated on a rock. At the far left is Washington and at the right, a male portrait. Oval dies are in each corner. Pen Cancelled across the signature blocks with a broad, wavy stroke. This is an unknown series from the bank and has only some modest handling.
