Description Mount Joy, PA - Farmers Bank of Mount Joy $1 January 7, 1862 PA-330 G2a Hoober 255-2. PCGS Fine 15. This has always been a popular title with National Banknote collectors, but it is much rarer in the category of Obsoletes. This American Bank Note Company printed note combines well-styled vignettes and colored devices to create a sharp type. At the left half of the note is seated Agriculture, her hand resting on a lamb, under the arced title. Flanking, toward the bottom of the vignette, are tall green "1" protectors. Across the bottom center is a green micro-lettered guilloche. At the upper right is the State Auditor General's Seal. At the lower right is The Calmady Children from the painting by Lawrence. This is a rare bank and very rare type. Honest circulation only is seen, this note features ample margins and strong color. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Realized $1,762.50. Newman VI (Heritage Auctions, 4/2015), lot 19308. Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions.
