||G. S. L. City, U.T. - Great Salt Lake City Corporation 25 Cents 186_ Rust 108 Nyholm 114. Inverted Back Printing. Remainder. PCGS Very Fine 30. An attractive series of notes with vignettes, color protectors and backs. This type was payable in U.S. Legal Tenders per its obligation. Lithographed, on bond paper, with the Ferd. Mayer & Co. Lithographers, 99 Fulton St. N.Y. imprint on bottom edge. At the left is America as used on the $20 Demand and Legal Tender notes. At the lower right is an eagle and shield. Titles are across the top, with green protector dies in the center. The all green back has counters, and the denomination written on a curved banner. The back is inverted to the face, resulting from the sheet being turned 180 degrees when doing the second printing. These inverts and double denomination notes would be the result of transposing the faces and backs on an entire sheet during the printing process. Hole Punch Cancelled as noted, possibly a lithographer's or archived sample. A fascinating error note and not included in the Ford VI sale. Very conservatively graded, appearing virtually new at first glance. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
